CanSkate is Skate Canada's Flagship learn-to-skate program designed for skaters age 4 and over by December 31, 2011 working on CanSkate Stages 1 to 5. This program teaches skating skills through the use of music, games and toys; which helps skaters develop balance and coordination, while having fun.

When you sign up for CanSkate you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. You will earn badges and other incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills. Lessons are given in a group format and led by one of our NCCP certified professional coaches. Professional coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants. The typical coach to student ratio for CanSkate is 1:10.

Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, music and a wide variety of activities that create a fun environment and promote learning.

What should my child wear to skating lessons? - All CanSkate participants up to and including Stage 5 must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet and mittens at all times while on the ice. We recommend that you dress your CanSkater in snow pants and a warm sweater or coat.

While we do our best to accommodate skaters into the session of their choice, the EGSC Executive reserve the right to adjust programs or move skaters based on skill level and the number of skaters enrolled in each program as necessary.
