Tina
Stevens Forani
Tina is entering her seventh season of
coaching for the E.G. Skating Club. Tina is Level 2 certified in Freeskate
and Dance and is currently working on her Level 3 certification. Tina
is also certified as an instructor for the Skate Canada power skating
program (CanPower) and as a Level 1 Special Olympics instructor. Tina
believes in nurturing skaters in a positive environment that will allow
them to grow not only as a skater, but also as a person. It is important
to instill a love of skating that will encourage skaters to remain active
within the sport throughout their life.
Kim
Drewanz
Kimberly Drewanz has been coaching for nine years in many disciplines
such as Preschool, Canskate, Test Stream (free skate, dance, skills)
and Canpower Skate. She also hold certifications in aerobics, Special
Olympics and Synchronized Skating. Kim is still a Figure Skater, wishing
to achieve some of her gold tests, and to stay on top of any current
changes with Skate Canada. This will be her first year coaching with
the East Gwillimbury Skating Club, although she has been skating on
the Adult Synchronized Skating Team, Mid-Ice Crisis
Sandee
Elliott
Sandee has many years of coaching experience. She has taught many different
disciplines such as Canskate, Canpower Skate, test stream( free skate,
dance) and competitive stream(free skate). Sandee competed in two disciplines;
singles(junior sectionals) and dance (junior sub-sectionals). Sandee
also holds her Bachelor of Education degree, which includes working
with special needs children, and has experience in the elementary and
secondary panels. Sandee enjoys working with skaters of all ages, abilities
and disciplines. She joined E.G. in January and is looking forward to
coaching here again this year.
Professional coaching staff glide through Skate Canada’s Certified
Canhockey Program to improve your skater’s skills: quick stops
and starts, great edges, strength and endurance - all to give your skater
more confidence, and “first to the puck” ability. Full equipment
encouraged but not mandatory.
Program Co-ordinator Sandee Elliott, consultant to teams from Junior
A to Triple A and Tykes to Midget, will have your player flying around
the ice!
Sarah Whitehead
This is Sarah's first year coaching at the star skate level, working
hard towards achieving her level one coaching certification. Last season
she taught on the canskate session at EG as well as assisted with the
pre-juvenile synchronized skating team, the Zambunnies. This year she
will once again be coaching on the canskate session as well as assisting
with the newly formed juvenile team, the CopyCats. Just this past year
she completed her Bachelor of Education and has as a wide array of experience
working with children of all ages. Sarah is open and willing to teach
all disciplines (free skate, dance, and skills) and is excited about
coaching with the EG skating club again this season.
Erin
Bremaud
This is Erin’s first year coaching at the East Gwillimbury Skating
Club. She is a double Gold medalist (dance and skating skills), with
ambition to complete her Gold Freeskate Test. She just recently graduated
from Humber College with a diploma in Coaching and Sport Development
– Figure Skating. During her time at Humber College, she has worked
with all levels of skaters, from CanSkate to Senior competitive. Erin
is available and willing to teach all disciplines (freeskate, dance
and skating skills). Erin is looking forward to her first year at the
East Gwillimbury Skating Club.
Kristin
Malecki
Kristin is entering her 2nd year of coaching Canskate after many years
as a Program Assistant. She skated as a member of Frostbite and Shiver
synchronized skating teams and is proud to have been part of Shiver's
success earning a Silver medal at the Canadian Championships last year.
Kristin continues to skate at EG. She has earned her Gold Dances and
Gold Skills. She will continue to work on her Diamond Dances, Freeskate
and artistic programs this year. Kristin is currently working on completing
her Level one certification and looking forward to beginning to coach
test stream skaters.
Sandra
Osbaldeston
Sandra is entering her sixteenth season coaching with the Unionville
Skating Club and looks forward to her second season with East Gwillimbury.
She is a double Gold medalist in figures and dance as well as passing
her dance variation test and the International Skating Union dance tests.
As a skater Sandra competed at the Canadian level winning a Gold medal
in the 1988 Junior Synchronized Skating Championships. She has been
coaching synchronized skating for twelve years. Sandra is Level 2 Certified
and has Level 3 Theory, Technical, General Subjects, and Synchro. She
also has the Canskate Update Clinic and is Certified Level 1 Special
Olympics. Sandra has also been the Director of Unionville's last 6 Ice
Fantasia@ performances. She has coached all levels of skating from Preschool,
Canskate, to Gold tests as well as had many skaters compete at various
competitions. With the love of skating she believes hard work and dedication
is what it takes to achieve your goals.
Linda Frey
Linda moved from London, England to Canada when she was 13, to train
with Olympic Dance Bronze Medalist Jon Lane and British Dance Bronze
Medalist Carol (Long) Lane. That same year, Linda won Pre-Novice Free
Skate and Novice Dance at Sectionals, and placed fourth at the Canadian
Championships in Novice Dance. The following year she was runner up
for Junior Worlds in Dance. Linda then decided to focus on Dance only
and began competing in England at age 16. At her last British Championships
she placed fifth. Taking one more crack at the Canadian Championships,
she placed eleventh. Linda has had the opportunity to train in Oberstdorf,
Germany on the same schedule as Isabelle and Paul Duschenay and Jane
Torvill and Christopher Dean. In addition to twelve years of competitive
skating and 14 years of coaching, Linda has completed her Gold tests
in both Dance and Free Skate, Novice Competitive Free Skate, Senior
Competitive Dance and has completed Level II Dance and General. In
addition, she has taught and partnered students to their Gold Free
Skate and Dance including the Diamond Dances and has worked with several
dance teams. This is Linda’s second year at EG. Her love is
dance and choreography and she looks forward to bringing her extensive
experience to EG and her students.
Susan Coleman
Susan has been teaching figure skating for over 16 years and has loved
every minute of it. She is Level 2 certified with Level 3 Theory and
Level 3 Technical in Freeskating. Susan is a triple Gold medalist
in Figures, Freeskate and Dance. Susan also completed her Junior competitive
test and competed at the Ontario Winter Games as well as at the provincial
level. She has worked with various skaters from the CanSkate and the
StarSkate programs as well as with competitive skaters. Susan teaches
all levels and all disciplines but her true passion is teaching Freeskating.
