Can Hockey - Mondays at 6:00pm

A high energy power skating program developed by power skating experts at Skate Canada geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on developing, power, agility and speed. Our goal is to have your player develop such strong skating skills that they can focus entirely on the puck and the developing play and not be concerned about what they can or cannot do in skates! Figure skaters are becoming the coaches to the pros because of their strong technique background.  We go beyond pure straight- line speed to develop efficiency of stride, agility in turns and strong backwards skills.  Why backwards?  Because defence depend on strong backwards skills and  forwards need options in game situations.  Great players can react and adapt quickly to changing game conditions and rise to the challenge. Most hockey players’ effectiveness decreases when they have to turn or change direction and their speed decreases when traveling backwards. Your skater will be taught by Skate Canada NCCP certified Professional Coaches who have additional certification in CanPowerSkate. When is my player ready for CanPowerSkate? When they can stop sharply on command, generate full strides, and do forward and backward crossovers. CanPower is NOT a learn to skate program. CanSkate teaches basic strides, stopping, turning and crossovers. Typically we have skaters 8 to 15 years who are decent skaters who need work on their forward and backward crossovers, refining their stride and agile turns. Our programs flow in this order: 1. PreCanSkate or PreCanPowerSkate 2. CanSkate 3. CanPowerSkate
