Junior is a bridge program between CanSkate and our Intermediate session and allows skaters to develop their remaining skills from CanSkate and work towards our StarSkate session (Star 1-5). Star 1+ skaters may enter fun events/competitions throughout the year.
Skaters are taught in a 100% NCCP Certified Coach-Directed format which will include many class styles for variety, interest and to maximize learning. We utilize program assistants for modeling, demonstrations and help with practice stations.
Skaters will find this a fun, encouraging, fast-paced, full-ice, positive and high-energy class full of basic fundamental technique on which to build figure skating skills.
Figure skates are recommended but not required until skaters have completed Stage 6 of the CanSkate program. Ribbons and stage badges will be awarded as earned!
JUNIOR PROGRAM IS A 2 DAY PROGRAM on Thursdays and Fridays, starting September 13th.
First year juniors who have not completed Stage 6 may register for 2 days of Junior as well as 1 day of CanSkate to pick up extra ice time. Advanced juniors (Star 1-2) may pick up an Intermediate session on Tuesdays for additional ice/practice and/or private lessons. Please email Coach Lianne to request alternate session options.
On Ice:Thursdays 5:15pm-6:00pm, and Fridays 5:10-6:25pm
Off-Ice: Fridays 4:30-5:00pm and Saturdays 10:30-11:15am. Off-Ice for Juniors is included and highly recommended to ensure athletic abilities develop to support the on-ice component:
