 CANSKATE COACH

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in alignment with Skate Canada’s CanSkate program standards and principles
  • Provide clear instruction, constructive feedback, and encouragement to skaters of varying ages and abilities
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment both on and off the ice
  • Collaborate with other coaches and program assistants to ensure program success
  • Track and assess skater progress, communicating areas of concern to Canskate Program Director
  • Serve as a positive role model for the East Gwillimbury Skating Club


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum NCCP CanSkate Coach In Training or higher
  • Minimum 15 years of age
  • Registered Skate Canada Professional Coach In Good Standing
  • Strong knowledge of the Skate Canada CanSkate program and its principles
  • Experience working with children and beginners in a skating or coaching capacity
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, proactive, punctual, and team-oriented
  • Available for weeknight and weekend programming
  • Priority will be given to applicants who were volunteered as a Program Assistant with EGSC for the season prior to application.

STARSKATE COACH
Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons aligned with Skate Canada’s STARSkate program standards and principles
  • Provide individualized feedback and technical guidance for skills, freeskate, dance, and artistic skating
  • Create lesson plans and seasonal training plans that promote continuous skater development
  • Collaborate with the coaching team, program assistants, and club leadership to support program goals
  • Prepare skaters for assessments, competitions, and performances
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth
  • Communicate regularly with skaters, parents, and STARSkate Program Director regarding progress and goals


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum Regional Coach Trained status through the NCCP
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Registered Skate Canada Professional Coach In Good Standing
  • Strong knowledge of the STARSkate program and Skate Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development model
  • Demonstrated experience coaching figure skating at STAR 1 and above
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, proactive, and committed to the success of skaters and the club
  • Availability for weeknight and weekend programming

OFF-ICE TRAINER
Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver safe, engaging, and effective off-ice training sessions for figure skaters of varying ages and skill levels
  • Incorporate strength training, flexibility, core stability, plyometrics, agility, and conditioning exercises into programming
  • Adapt training sessions to meet the needs of individual skaters and groups, ensuring progression and skill development
  • Collaborate with on-ice coaches to align off-ice training with seasonal goals and competition schedules
  • Promote injury prevention through proper warm-ups, cool-downs, and technique
  • Maintain a safe training environment and ensure the proper use of equipment
  • Motivate and encourage athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the ice


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • First Aid certification (current and valid)
  • Member in Good Standing with Skate Canada
  • Specialized training in fitness, sports conditioning, or a related field (e.g., NCCP certification, kinesiology, personal training, or dance background)
  • Experience working with athletes, preferably in figure skating or a similar sport
  • Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills
  • Reliable, organized, and committed to the long-term development of skaters

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM ASSISTANT

  • Minimum 11 years of age 
  • Minimum completed Star 2 
  • Member of Skate Canada 
  • Attend Program Assistant Training 
  • Proper skating attire including Program assistant vest must be worn while volunteering
